Piliguard (50 Doses) Coopers **

Piliguard is a vaccine, which aids in the prevention of Pinkeye in cattle

Dose rate 2ml (50 doses per 100ml)

It can be used in cattle as young as 2 weeks of age

It covers infection associated with Moraxella bovis strains, but research stated on the label showed that in Victoria Piliguard aids in the prevention of 65% of these strains - therefore Piliguard should not be seen as a silver bullet to prevent all cases of pinkeye - it should be a "tool in the kitbag"

It should be given 3-6 weeks PRIOR to incidence, so the immune system has time to build protection prior to challenge

Pinkeye in cattle occurs mostly during the summer months, when flies and dust are present

Animals at particular risk are often younger stock, like calves and weaners, particularly around and after weaning time if this coincides with the fly season

Piliguard should always be given alongside consideration to other management – ie. reducing fly pressure, reducing dust, and managing stress.

Refridgerate at 2-8c, do not freeze

Piliguard should be used up or discarded on the day it is first used – the label states “use all product immediately after opening”

Piliguard contains a mineral oil, so care must be taken to avoid accidental self injection. If self injection occurs, seek medical attention and refer to the label for more information.

Piliguard can be hard to get and often has short-ish expiry dates - needs forward planning and ordering
