Zolvix Plus  (sheep)

Zolvix Plus is a dual active sheep drench, and contains one of the newest active – Monepantel (the other is Derquantel, contained in Startect). The second active in Zolvix Plus is Abamectin.

Zolvix Plus is made by Elanco.

It comes in 1L, 5L and 10L.

ESI is 21 days

Do not use in sheep under 10kg or under 6 weeks of age

Re-treatment interval is 42 days

The dose rate is 1ml/10kg (be aware of this, as each drum looks expensive, but it does DOUBLE the amount of sheep to that of other drenches)

Zolvix Plus has some reported resistance to date in some areas where use has been higher, hence around Pyramid Hill we can assume full confidence in it’s efficacy.

Zolvix Plus is perfect as a weaning drench or first summer drench as these are critical “no brainer drenches” and times when we need to be absolutely sure of efficacy, or any other time when a farmer is happy to pay for the efficacy of a newer active. Startect could also be used.

If a farmer is not willing to pay for Startect or Zolvix Plus, they should at a minimum use a triple active product (Triguard).

IF ESI is an issue for them due to selling sheep soon after drenching, then Sheepguard could be chosen.

Zolvix Plus is very user friendly, it can be used through a Zolvix drench gun or any other drench gun the farmer chooses.

Because it is a low dose product, farmers can often choose to use a smaller barrel drencher for ease of use.

As always, sheep should have a Worm Egg count conducted to determine if they need drenching before a sheep drench is used.

Zolvix Plus is also registered for cattle - but NOT for lactating dairy cattle or within 49 days of calving if milk will be used for human consumption.

DO not use in cattle less than 100kg or under 16 weeks

Dose rate 5ml/50kg (1ml/10kg)

Re-treatment interval 21 days, after 3 consecutive treatments a timeframe of 61 days must elapse before treating again.
