Description

Ultravac 7in1 is a vaccine for cattle, that covers the 5 major clostridial diseases plus 2 strains of Leptospirosis

This is an important cattle vaccine, especially for breeding cows and bulls, but also because Leptospirosis is Zoonotic – meaning it can be transmitted to humans, and cause a 12 month flu like condition with no vaccine available for humans.

Prevention in cattle is the only way to prevent infection in humans.

Ultravac 7in1 is made by Zoetis

It comes in 100ml and 250ml

It has no withholds or ESI

Ultravac 7in1 is arguably the best 7in1 on the market – not just because Zoetis says it is!

When cattle are provided the correct schedule (2 doses followed by annual boosters), the vaccine provides protection against:

  • enterotoxaemia (pulpy kidney disease),
  • tetanus,
  • black disease,
  • malignant oedema, including swelled head in rams,
  • blackleg,
  • leptospirosis (L. Hardjo and L. Pomona).

Also for the prevention of urinary shedding of the named leptospires in cattle when used prior to natural exposure and to prevent the risk of human leptospiral infection associated with the shedding of the named leptospires in the urine and from the reproductive tract of cattle.

For the prevention of reproductive tract colonisation and placental and foetal infection with L. Hardjo.

Ultravac 7in1, provides the best claims of all the 7in1’s on the market, including stopping the shedding of Leptospires, and the ability to vaccinate calves down to 4 weeks of age

The recommended schedule starts at 6 weeks of age, then a second dose 4-6 weeks later and annual boosters each year after.

For dairy farmers who consider their property at high risk, or who just want to be sure of the best and earliest protection for themselves, their families and/or their farm workers, vaccinating calves at 4 weeks is an option.

If calves are vaccinated at 4 weeks, they must vaccinate again as per the two dose protocol, at 4-6 weeks later (8-10 weeks of age) and again at 6 months - as there can be maternal antibody interference and therefore this extra dose at 6 months ensures correct protection.

Annual boosters are required each 12 months thereafter.

Ultravac 7in1 is a water based vaccine that can go through any vaccinator suitable for a 2.5ml dose

Once the vaccine is first used, it can be stored and used for up to 30 days, however it must be stored correctly - in the fridge, upright, disconnected from the draw off tube.
