Description
Description
Clik (for fly protection in sheep)
Clik is made by Elanco
It is the “original formulation”, containing 50g/L of Dicyclanil
It is for the long term prevention of blowfly strike in sheep
It comes in 5L and 20L
It is ready-to-use, water based, and applicators are always washed out with water
Clik is applied as a spray-on, use through an applicator with a fan spray nozzle, ideally an Elanco one.
See label or website for application dose rate and directions, as they change depending on area to be targeted for protection.
Protection period  18-24 weeks
ESIÂ 63 days
Wool Withhold Do not use less than 3 months before shearing
Re-treatment interval Do not use again within 9 weeks
Dicyclanil is an Insect Growth Regulator (IGR) so it will prevent maggots that are laid on the sheep from growing, so they cannot cause damage to sheep, and in turn starve and die
It will not kill existing maggots, therefore another product must be used on existing strikes  - best is Extinosad Aerosol or Extinosad Eliminator liquid.
Any fly product can have reduced efficacy in certain conditions. Heavy rain and high fly pressure during the protection period can reduce length of protection.
There is known resistance to Dicyclanil, so producers should be aware of this, and therefore expect that the stated protection period may be reduced.
They should also consider using other active ingredients across a fly season if re-treatment is needed (such as Avenge or Jetaway, but be careful with withholds)
Significant soiling with dags, urine, mud, dust can reduce efficacy, as can scouring post application. A light crutch before treatment is recommended where significant dags are present.
Clik can also be used at mulesing and marking time, to protect wounds from flystrike during the wound healing process. See label for directions. Be sure to apply on the edges of the wound, overlapping 25mm out into the wool (products like Trisolfen or Extinosad aerosol or spray bandage go on the wound itself.
