Trisolfen

Pain relief (lignocaine + Bupivacaine) + Reduces bleeding (Adrenaline) and antiseptic (Cetrimide)

Trisolfen is made by Dechra. It comes in 1L and 5L.

The expiry is shorter than many other products, however Dechra have done work to increase the length of expiry so this will get better in time.

Do not use if out of date - so not last's years stock, efficacy of Adrenaline is reduced, DISCARD AND USE FRESH POT

Trisolfen is a topical (sprayed) short acting pain relief product for us in sheep and cattle. It is used mainly for lamb marking, to give pain relief for mulesing wounds or the wound created by gas knife tail docking, however it can also be used for calves following castration, disbudding & dehorning.

Application:

1. Spray stripes up & down to cover wound, out to wound edges.

Use a 2ml Trisolfen applicator, splitting dose rate into several 2ml bands - for example an 8ml dose will be given in 4 x 2ml bands to achieve coverage of wound

2. Don't spray to lots of runoff - but enough to cover

3. In the warmer months where flies are a risk, apply Trisolfen first directly onto the wound, and then apply a band of Clik/ClikExtra/ClikZin along the edges of the wound and out towards wool/hair - always Trisolfen first

Benefits:

Provides immediate reduction in pain, and lasts up to 24 hours

Reduces bleeding, shock & stress. Reduces risk of bacterial wound infection.

Assists in wound healing, treated animals return to normal behaviour more quickly and easy to apply.
